Thank you to whoever is trying to raise the Webid Ship from the ground!
I went in to check on it to see if any progress had been made or any new posts in the Old Webid Forum were made to see if I could help out but, to my surprise I found the Old Webid Forum was completely gone and there was what looked like a generic video game website. The last time I was there in the Old Webid Forum, I had to keep reporting spam bot postings. I wouldn't be surprised if a bot hacked that Old Webid Forum and took it over. I am not sure what happened to Renlok but, I hope he's okay. I knew Webid had been abondoned after we worked 24/7 on a lot of it and we made a lot of progress but, then...grr...Facebook decided to allow Facebook users to create their own market places and that was probably the last straw. Facebook users didn't need to know coding and if there was a problem, then Facebook would fix it. After pani100 left, there was only people in there that were asking for help but, we didn't have the coders to help.
I was pretty upset after I fixed the Photo uploader with I think Version 3 of Webid and I didn't get credit for it on Github. When the last version was updated, the Photo uploader was not working again and that time I didn't fix it. Without the photo uploader, the Webid project will be pointless to use if our user customers can't post an image. On top of that we never could figure out how to prevent an attack through the photo uploader even after that super smart coder timw255 came in to help us. timw255 was the smartest coder that I have ever witnessed and he was solving a lot of complex problems that are still complex even 'til this day. I've recently seen a code for patching the uploader and I think that was why I went looking for the old forum to try to help with that.
I am pretty sad that all of the work we put in that old forum is gone. Like I said we spent many hours working on the project. I came into the Webid Forum, as a newbie coder and I was a bit of a hack when I first joined there. I had learned coding breezing through the basic courses so, I knew only a little bit. I was good at fiding and reporting issues and pani100 or nay would fix the issue. People took me as knowing how to find the issues but, not solve them. I was good at finding the problems. I actually learned a lot from the Webid Project and I am grateful for being a part of the team of fellow users that helped fix and upgrade it. What people didn't realize was while I was helping out with the Webid Project that, I retook coding courses but, from a different source and that time I took my time and I didn't move on from a lesson unless I understood. The coding started to click with me and I even received some certificates after I finised the courses. When I started to know coding I was like cool, I can help out now in the Webid Forum instead of just finding the problems. I was feeling like I was going to be the next pani100 with helping people. Of course it was the time when timw255 became active in our forum and that coder was the fastest coder that I had ever seen in my life. He was able to upgrade our md5 passwords to hash. That's how good he was and that was the complex coding that I was mentioning above this. He made it so, the next time a registered user on our Webid sites signed in, that it would log us in and not just reset the password but, also upgrade our encryption from md5 to hash. I was the one to mention the issue to him though and timw255 just jumped on it and had it working by the next day.
I don't know if anybody will ask for help here but, I will check in later to see if anybody needs help. I think everyone abandoned the project. Is there a new GitHub site to update things. Is Renlok alive still? I think if people need help with something these days, just ask an AI to help and show it the code that you need help with. We can even ask an AI to teach you about coding. I had taken a couple of years off from coding after the old Webid Forum became a ghost town but, I started to work on Webforms and I asked an AI to help me with things and I started to learn again and I am advancing father with the AI teaching me coding that I had seen before but, I didn't know what it did. There are even special AIs out there that if you poke in some keywords that it will build you that web page for you. The AIs are not perfect though but, they are progressing and becoming better. Bing AI seems to have problems and it refreshes a chat while you are chatting with it. The all have different ways to teach us. Bing AI can give a good coding solution but, you have to be quick and copying what it says. I call it a ding bot for doing that. If you are wondering, yes some of the AIs have people monitoring them so, don't share personal information with them.
Thanks again to the admin here for trying to keep the Webid Project alive! I hope you get some people in here asking for help or willing to help! I really do hope Renlok is okay!
